In our house, Valentine’s Day is a big deal. Not the fancy dinner and overpriced roses kind, but the heart-shaped dog treats and spoiling-your-pup-extra kind. Kiki and Zamba absolutely love their homemade Valentine’s Day Dog Treats every year!
Every year I make easy homemade Valentine’s Day dog treats, and they’re always a hit. They’re made with dog-safe ingredients, naturally pink thanks to beetroot, and perfect if you’re looking for healthy, easy dog treats you can make at home.
I’ve also created printable recipe cards so you can save them, bake them, and spoil your own pup this Valentine’s Day too.
Beetroot & Banana Valentine Dog Biscuits
These soft baked dog treats make the cutest Valentine’s Day dog cookies. Kiki’s favourite… gentle, chewy, and naturally sweet.
Beetroot Peanut Butter Pup Truffles (No Bake Dog Treats)
These no-bake dog treats are Zamba-approved (which means maximum excitement). Great for training treats, quick snacks, or when you want something easy but homemade!
Beetroot Yogurt Frozen Dog Treats
Our go-to frozen dog treats for warmer days and enrichment toys. These are perfect for lick mats, molds, frozen Kong’s or cooling down after walks.
We hope you enjoy making these yummy Valentine’s Day treats for your dogs!
Every year around this time, my Instagram feed turns into a swirl of pumpkin spice everything with cozy sweaters, cinnamon candles, pumpkin lattes… all the fall vibes!
Now, we don’t actually have the fall season where we live (we live in Zambia!) but that doesn’t stop me from loving everything about it. So, this year I decided to bring a little piece of that cozy “pumpkin spice life” to Kiki and Zamba.
They’ve never had a pumpkin spice pup cup before but after seeing so many adorable pumpkin themed dog treats online, I thought, why not try it for them?
And let me tell you, it was a total hit.
Ingredients
(Enough for 2–3 small pup cups)
1 cup coconut milk
1 cup cooked pumpkin puree
¼ tsp cinnamon (just a tiny bit, make sure it’s plain cinnamon, not mixed spice)
A squirt of honey
¼ tsp vanilla extract
Squirty cream for topping (because that’s the best part!)
How to Make Pumpkin Spice Pup Cups
Blend it all up: Add everything (except the cream) to a blender and mix until thick and creamy.
Scoop into cups: Pour or spoon the mixture into some cute cups (not glass).
Top with love: Add a swirl of squirty cream on top because this is the star of the show.
Watch the joy: Serve it up and let your pups enjoy their cozy “pumpkin spice” moment!
Zamba devoured his in seconds, while Kiki savoured every last lick!
Make Frozen Pumpkin Dog Treats
If you have leftover mixture, don’t toss it! Spread it onto Lick Mats for an easy boredom buster. Spoon it into ice cube trays or silicone molds and freeze itfor later. Or fill a Kong toy, pop it in the freezer overnight, and give it to your pup the next day as a boredom-busting snack.
Even though we don’t live in the USA or experience the fall season, this little recipe made us feel part of it and it was such a fun way to treat Kiki and Zamba.
So if you’ve been watching all those cozy fall videos online and want to bring a taste of it to your own home (and your pups!), this is your sign to try Homemade Pumpkin Spice Pup Cups.

You might be wondering what exactly bone broth is good for… or why it should feature in your pups diet… or how to make the perfect bone broth… So I’ll tell you…
Bone broth is natures liquid gold. It is packed with vitamins, minerals and joint-loving components that not only supports your pups digestion but it improves their skin and coat health and keeps your pup nourished from the inside.
What Is Bone Broth, Exactly?
Bone broth is a nutrient-rich liquid made by simmering animal bones (I use good quality beef marrow bones) in water over a long period of time (7 hours or more). The long, slow cooking process allows all the collagen, amino acids, gelatin, minerals, and other beneficial nutrients to be extracted from the bones into the broth.
Unlike regular broth or stock, bone broth is simmered for much longer, which results in a thicker, more gelatinous texture (once cooled), especially if it’s made properly. This is what gives it its powerful health-boosting properties for dogs.
For dogs, bone broth is like a natural multivitamin. It’s easy to digest, full of flavour, and incredibly good for their joints, gut, and overall well-being.
Why Bone Broth Should Be in Every Dog’s Diet
Bone broth is a nutritional powerhouse that delivers real, visible benefits:
Supports Joint Health: Rich in collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin, bone broth helps keep joints cushioned and strong. It is especially important for senior dogs or large breeds. But EVERY dog will benefit from bone broth.
Improves Gut Health: The gelatin in bone broth helps repair and seal the gut lining, making it a gentle solution for dogs with sensitive stomachs or allergies.
Boosts Immunity: Packed with amino acids like glycine and proline, bone broth supports your pups immune system.
Enhances Hydration: Dogs who aren’t big water drinkers often lap up bone broth, which helps prevent dehydration, especially in warmer months.
Adds Flavour & Nutrition: If you’ve got a picky eater, simply pour a little over their daily meal. I have yet to discover a pup that doesn’t love bone broth đŸ˜‰
How to make the perfect bone broth
You’ll need:
1.5-2kg good quality beef marrow bones
2 tbs apple cider vinegar
Water
How to make your bone broth:
Start by placing all the bones into a very large pot. Pour over the apple cider vinegar and leave it for 20-30minutes (this breaks down the fat). Then pour in enough water to completely cover your bones. Bring it to the boil then simmer it nicely for 7 hours.
Strain your broth very carefully- making sure absolutely NO bones or bit get into the broth. (Dispose of the bones immediately and make 100% sure your dog CANNOT get to it!!) Then Set your strained bone broth aside and leave it to cool overnight. You will notice the fat completely separates from the now jelly like broth. Carefully remove the fat layer and what you’re left with is your glorious liquid gold as they call it… pure bone broth! You can store it in little jars in the fridge for up to 10 days (I don’t do longer) or you can freeze it in ice trays.
Well done for deciding to make your pup the most affordable, nutrient dense supplement out there- you wont regret it and you pup is going to love it too đŸ™‚

Recipe:
Ingredients-
1/2 cup fresh strawberries
1 cup greek yogurt
Peanut butter to drizzle inside the heart holds
Directions-
Add the strawberries and greek yoghurt to a Nutribullet blender or something similar. Blend until there are no lumps of strawberries.
Drizzle some melted peanut butter into the bottom of the heart shaped molds then pour in the strawberry and yoghurt mixture. Allow to freeze for a few hours or overnight. Then let your pup enjoy!
I used small heart molds to create treats which I will use as a food topper. I used a heart shaped lollypop mold for a bigger treat.
It’s Zamba’s first Gotcha Day and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate our big baby bear in all his glory! In my biased opinion, there is nothing cuter than a Rottweiler puppy and wow Zamba was cute.
When we welcomed Zamba into our family a year ago today, we had recently lost our soul sister Zara. Zara was a Rottweiler too and she was the reason we knew we needed another needy Rottweiler in our lives. Zamba may have thought he had big paws to fill but it was important to us to let him know that he needed to just be himself and find his place within our family, which is of course was being needy but we wouldn’t change a thing!
When you look beyond Zamba’s big size and striking looks, you get to discover a giant teddy bear. A teddy bear that wants to kiss you for hours and run around the house squeaking one of his many many balls because balls are life!
So today we celebrate our bear Zamba.
Zamba’s LickiMat Birthday Treat
I am using the LickiMat brand for no other reason than it is what I had available to buy at the time of doing Zamba’s birthday prep! There are many amazing brands out there that offer similar things to fill and create birthday treats like the one I have prepared for Zamba.
Ingredients
To create a filled LickiMat (or a brand of your choice) simply choose what your pup loves to eat. For Zamba I have chosen:
Raw chicken mince
Raw beef mince
Double cream plain yoghurt
Cottage cheese
Carrot rounds
Raw watermelon cut into shapes
Collagen Paws
Doggy treats and sprinkle to top it all
Plus some pet friendly peanut butter
Directions
To assemble and create your fun filled treat bowl, simply layer all your ingredients how you wish. I made balls of chicken mince and beef mince, I spread the yoghurt around the edges, I filled gaps with cottage cheese, I decorated with the carrots and watermelon then topped it all with star shaped doggy treats and drizzled pet friendly peanut butter over everything. Then I put it in the freezer over night. You can choose to either freeze the treat bowl or give it to your pup fresh- it is up to you and your pup đŸ™‚

It’s Kiki’s first Gotcha Day and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this feisty little firecracker of ours! From day one Kiki was feisty, and she was fiery but she was full of love and she showed us who was about to rule this roost…
What a year it has been. When we welcomed Kiki into our family exactly a year ago today, our hearts were beyond shattered after losing our precious girl Zara. If you follow us on Instagram, then you’ll know exactly what I mean. Our family needed Kiki, we needed someone new to love and someone new to nurture.
Kiki is our first Boston Terrier and the smallest dog we have ever had the privilege of loving. But do not let her small size fool you! She is the boss around here and she will let anyone and everyone who will listen know. She is extremely playful and has loads of energy bursts, but when it comes to bedtime, oh Kiki can snore alright- but we wouldn’t have it any other way!
So today we celebrate Kiki in all her feisty glory.
Kiki’s Pupcakes
Because Kiki is so small, I thought little pupcakes would suit her perfectly for her birthday treats.
Ingredients
1/2 cup plain flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup smooth peanut butter
1 medium banana mashed
1 egg
50ml water
Icing
1/2 cup plain yoghurt
1/3 cup smooth peanut butter
Directions
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees. Mix together the peanut butter, mashed banana, egg and water. Then sift in your flour and baking powder. Whisk together until properly combined and smooth in texture. Then scoop the batter into each mini cupcake holder. Bake for 15-20 minutes until cooked. Allow them to cool completely before icing them.
Icing Directions
Using an electric beater, mix together the yoghurt and peanut butter until smooth, light and fluffy. Once the pupcakes have cooled you can top with the icing.
These pupcakes are totally human safe too so go ahead and enjoy them with your pup!

Happy Halloween! While we don’t typically celebrate Halloween here in the middle of Africa, I still love an excuse to add a little extra celebration to our family. And of course our puppies are part of the family so creating a pup treat just for them was on the menu for Halloween this year!
Here is the recipe for my 1 ingredient frozen halloween dog treats…
INGREDIENTS
Any orange vegetable that your doggo loves to eat. Pumpkin, orange sweet potato or cavorts work best.
DIRECTIONS
Simply steam your chosen vegetable until it is nice and soft, then blend it up into a smooth puree.
If it is too thick add a little water. Then pour the puree into halloween themed moulds and freeze over night.

In our home, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. We love to eat all the treats and get into all the festive feels by listening to Christmas songs and doing silly dances, taking Christmas photos in matching pyjamas and snuggling up to enjoy a few Christmas movies together and yes that includes Zara too.
While Christmas treats are a must have in our home, most of them are not dog friendly at all so to include Zara in our Christmas treats this year I have made these two really easy Christmas dog treat recipes which we hope your doggos will love too đŸ™‚
Frozen Beetroot Christmas treats
Ingredients
4 medium beetroots
Directions
Roast, boil or steam your peeled beetroot. Once cooked and soft blend them up into a smooth puree. Spoon the puree into silicone Christmas themed moulds and freeze over night. Pop them out the moulds and let your pups enjoy 1 or 2 at a time! Keep frozen.
Christmas Pancakes
Ingredients
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1.5 tbs melted butter
1 tsp vanilla
1.5 cups of flour (plain, wholemeal or oat)
1 tsp baking powder
Directions
Beat together eggs, milk, butter and vanilla. Then sift all the dry ingredients into the mixture. Beat or whisk until properly mixed. Heat a pan and you can either make giant pancakes and then use your Christmas cookie cutters to cut out the shapes or you can put your cookie cutters into the pan and pour the pancake batter into them. Once cooked allow them to cool before your pup enjoys them đŸ™‚
Make a big batch and freeze them, take them out as and when you need them- allow to defrost before serving.
These are two really quick and easy dog treat recipes (fit for humans too) because I know this time year can get really chaotic. We hope your furry loves enjoy their yummy Christmas treats as much as Zara does.
Valentine’s day is one of those days you either celebrate or you don’t. We celebrate it and love celebrating it. Of course I love my family every single day of the year but on Valentine’s Day I love spoiling them with cliche gifts and treats.
As you probably already know by now, I love making homemade treats for Zara. She’s an easy girl to make treats for as she literally eats anything and everything I make her. I love experimenting but sometimes I also like to keep things as simple as possible. If you follow our Instagram shenanigans @stylish_paws you will know just how busy baby sis Gia keeps me and sometimes I simply don’t have the time to create complicated recipes- and that’s ok!
So here are two simple recipes for yummy Valentine’s Day Dog treats.
Red and white heart biscuits
Ingredients for the red dough
1 cup beetroot puree

Ingredients for the white dough
1 cup apple puree
1 egg
2 cups flour
Directions
Mix together the apple puree and the egg then add the flour until a dough forms. Roll out your dough and cut out your heart biscuits or any other shape you want to. Place them on a greased baking tray and bake for +- 25 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
