In our home, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. We love to eat all the treats and get into all the festive feels by listening to Christmas songs and doing silly dances, taking Christmas photos in matching pyjamas and snuggling up to enjoy a few Christmas movies together and yes that includes Zara too.

While Christmas treats are a must have in our home, most of them are not dog friendly at all so to include Zara in our Christmas treats this year I have made these two really easy Christmas dog treat recipes which we hope your doggos will love too 🙂

Christmas dog treats

Frozen Beetroot Christmas treats

Ingredients

4 medium beetroots

Directions

Roast, boil or steam your peeled beetroot. Once cooked and soft blend them up into a smooth puree. Spoon the puree into silicone Christmas themed moulds and freeze over night. Pop them out the moulds and let your pups enjoy 1 or 2 at a time! Keep frozen.

Christmas Pancakes

Ingredients

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1.5 tbs melted butter

1 tsp vanilla

1.5 cups of flour (plain, wholemeal or oat)

1 tsp baking powder

Directions

Beat together eggs, milk, butter and vanilla. Then sift all the dry ingredients into the mixture. Beat or whisk until properly mixed. Heat a pan and you can either make giant pancakes and then use your Christmas cookie cutters to cut out the shapes or you can put your cookie cutters into the pan and pour the pancake batter into them. Once cooked allow them to cool before your pup enjoys them 🙂

Make a big batch and freeze them, take them out as and when you need them- allow to defrost before serving.

These are two really quick and easy dog treat recipes (fit for humans too) because I know this time year can get really chaotic. We hope your furry loves enjoy their yummy Christmas treats as much as Zara does.
